The Essay: For this assignment, select ONE news event, and read the coverage of that event from SEVEN different sources. Here is a list of news stories you might consider working with: Charlottesville Transgender People in the Military Trump′s Speech and the Boy Scout Jamboree North Korea Challenge Firing James Comey These are just a few ideas. You should select a story that is at least somewhat controversial. Keep in mind that you will NOT be writing a report if the news story itself. You will be evaluating the coverage of that story by the SEVEN news sources you select. First compare the quality of the report. Choose one source from each column. How in depth, complex, analytical is the coverage? Does the coverage reveal a particular bias? Use the ″Six Questions″ to help you OBJECTIVELY evaluate the quality, depth, and complexity of the seven sources. In your conclusion, you should provide your readers with a recommendation. Which of the seven sources would you recommend as the most reliable and why?
